A brief history of the Wissett Plough
As far back as the 1830's when John Phillips owned this property it was known as a brewhouse & was not licensed to sell spirits.
Adnams brewery bought the premises in 1891. At the end of the second world war, when Harry Perry ran the wissett Plough, it acquired "public house" status and spirits could be sold on the premises.
In 1979 Adnams decided to sell the plough & it was purchased by Bob & Linda Wilson for £850.
There have been many many owners of the Wissett Plough to date & more detailed records can be found in the "A walk through Wissett" book.
We moved in on the 13th April, 2007 & have many plans for the pub & hope to be the proprietors for sometime.
